If you have been adopted and live in the Birmingham area, our post adoption support team can provide support, counselling and help you to access your adoption records if you are over the age of 18.

I want to find my birth relatives
If you were adopted and are now over 18 years old, you can choose to express an interest in finding your birth family.
To do this you must add yourself to the Adoption Contact Register via the General Registry Office (GRO)
About tracing your birth relatives
I do not want to be found by my birth relatives
As an adopted adult you may not want to have contact with any birth relatives, or only certain birth relatives.
To prevent unwanted contact, you can register a VETO with your Adoption Agency. A VETO creates a record of your preference.
