Adopt Birmingham joins national celebration for Big Adoption Day

Adopt Birmingham is proud to support Big Adoption Day 2026 on Wednesday 21 January, a nationwide initiative to promote adoption as a permanency option for some of our most vulnerable children.

Led by the Consortium of Voluntary Adoption Agencies (CVAA) and the UK’s first children’s charity, Coram, Big Adoption Day sees participating agencies hosting information events in their areas and celebrating the real-life stories of families who have adopted, to encourage anyone interested in exploring adoption to find out more.

Currently, 2,940 children are waiting to be adopted across England (You Can Adopt, 2025), with almost half having waited more than 18 months since entering care. There is an urgent need for more prospective adoptive parents to come forward to provide permanent, loving homes for these children.

Andy Logie, Head of Service at Adopt Birmingham, said: “Big Adoption Day is a fantastic opportunity to join together with our colleagues across the country to shine a light on the services we offer, as well as raise awareness about the urgent need for more people to consider adopting. Every child deserves the stability and love of a permanent home, and we know that adoption can transform lives – not just for children, but for families too.

“At Adopt Birmingham, we provide lifelong support to our families because we know adoption is a journey, and we are committed to walking that path with them every step of the way.

“Our events are designed for people to find out more with no commitment to proceed any further; there is no pressure. So do come along and find out more – you could make an incredible difference in a child’s life.”
